reFrame

Adversity is part of the human experience. Sometimes it's not about what happened to us, but how we explain challenging events to ourselves. reFrame uses evidence-based methods to decompose your story into its main components while rating, challenging, and reframing your explanatory style when it may be helpful. 💳 How to get more credits?

Each reframing session uses one credit. New accounts start with a small number of free credits so you can explore how reFrame works. If you run out of credits but would like to continue testing, please contact me through the contact form of my personal website and I’ll be happy to add more.

📜 How to write your story?

✍️ Best Practices

Keep your story about one specific event that caused you distress. Include what happened, how you felt, and why you think it happened. Use about 6 sentences, write from your own perspective, and use clear, simple language.

❌ What to Avoid

Don’t be vague or include multiple events. Avoid excessive details, very short stories, or any harmful or offensive content. These will be automatically filtered.

📖 Example Story

"I had a job interview yesterday, and I felt really nervous. During the interview, I stumbled over my words and couldn't answer some of the questions. I think I messed up because I'm not qualified for this job. Everyone looked at me like I was incompetent and I immediately turned red. To be honest, after this experience, I'm worried that I'll never get hired anywhere else."

🖼️ About reFrame

🎯 The Goal of reFrame

reFrame is a learning app designed to help you identify and challenge pessimistic explanatory styles that may contribute to feelings of helplessness, anxiety, depression or even to poor physical health. By practicing reframing your thoughts in a more optimistic and constructive manner, you can develop greater resilience and improve your overall mental well-being. The tool is not a substitute for professional mental health care but might be a useful supplement to therapy or self-help practices involving cognitive restructuring.

⚙️ About reFrame's Methods

The tool is based on the concept of Learned Optimism (learn more). It uses large language models (like GPT) to extract the main components of your story, then evaluates your explanatory style according to these components with the CAVE method (learn more). At last, it disputes any unhelpful beliefs using the ABCD method (learn more). This technique is a basis of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), a form of cognitive behavioral therapy.
